π Alternatives
What βalternativeβ means on this site
A different option for moving the same cargo to the same region. It does not mean cheaper: even when the benchmark is lower, transshipment, terminal, sailing schedule and inland haulage can change the total cost.
- Alternative origin port: same destination and mode, different origin port
- Alternative destination port: same origin port, another port in the same region
- Alternative mode: ocean and air (only where both corridors are in the dossier)
- Alternative carrier: same type, different alliance (no price ranking)
Alternative origin ports for the same destination
| Corridor | Benchmark | Range | Transit | vs this corridor |

| Busan β Los Angeles | $8,247 | $7,422~$9,072 (Β±10%) | 12-15 days | β$743 (β8%) |

β What to check in the quotation
- Compare all-in quotes (ocean + local + peak-season surcharges) rather than the ocean line item alone.
- Ask for the contract rate and the spot rate side by side; spot has been the more volatile of the two.
- Check whether a quote assumes a named terminal or leaves the discharge terminal open.
- Los Angeles and Long Beach charge a separate PierPass traffic mitigation fee on top of terminal handling. Check that the quotation lists it separately.
The full 100-corridor table, 20ft estimates, port charges and sources are in the dossier and workbook.
Figures are reference benchmarks; confirm actual terms with a written quotation. (Data as of: 2026-11-07)
